Understanding your WordPress theme

Your website theme is basically the operating system for your website. Your theme determines how your site is structured and how it behaves and what options you have available to customization.

When you see images of themes, they should really say "here's what your website  could look like if you use this theme. Click "Live Preview" on any of the themes installed on your website to see what I mean. Once you’ve selected a theme, you can expand functionality through page templates, plugins, and custom design.

What themes are on your website?

Every website has just one theme. Most Maple websites use Build with Maple. Instead of changing themes to fit the website, we then install a website template created by our unique website builder, Maple Builder.

If you are a student in our website design course Build Your Website Essentials, we’ll show you how to use the Maple Builder tool to design your site. If you have hired us to design your site, we’ll use the Maple Builder to create it, and then we’ll send you some tutorials so you’ll know how to make basic updates on your site.

For more information, contact us at support@buildwithmaple.com or by booking a short call. You can also learn more about page templates below.

Viewing Your Theme

If you’d like to see what theme you have installed on our site, click “Appearance” in the left side menu on your website dashboard. Then click “Themes.” You will then be able to see what theme is installed.

This theme is created to work perfectly with the page builder. Since the builder tool is so effective and flexible, we only use the theme options for changing a few global styles such as active links, heading and text styles, and buttons, and for the occasional code insertion.

Are you looking for templates?

If you want to choose a style to insert your content, you might be looking for a template, not a theme. Maple Builder actually has variety of page templates available for you to choose from in the page builder.
