Choosing a WordPress theme
Your website theme is basically the operating system for your website. Your theme determines how your site is structured and how it behaves and what options you have available when building your website. Because of this, choosing a theme is one of the most important parts of owning a website.
What themes are included in a Care Plan?
You have a range of professional licensed themes when you're enrolled in a care plan. Feel free to reach out to ask about any of them, or see a demo.
There are two types of WordPress themes, and the distinction is important. Today's block themes are using the modern WordPress editor for all aspects of a website, including "theme parts" (header, footer, sidebar, post templates, archives, etc...).
Block Themes
These are modern themes that use the latest version of the WordPress editor. If you're starting out, or planning a redesign, you're best off with a block theme.
Block Themes available from Maple include:
- Rockbase : A solid foundation, used by creators like Ali Abdaal and many others, featuring pattern library designed by my mentor, Rafal Tomal.
- OllieWP : A professional, easy to use block theme with beautiful color pallets.
Classic Themes
These are still the most common, because an entire industry formed around creating themes for WordPress. It's helpful to understand classic themes as an operating system and NOT as a template, because it determines the admin experience as much as the design itself. This is confusing because when you shop for themes they look like templates, but they aren't.

Viewing Your Theme
If you’d like to see what theme you have installed on our site, click “Appearance” in the left side menu on your website dashboard. Then click “Themes.” You will then be able to see what theme is installed.
Are you looking for templates?
If you want to choose a style to insert your content, you might be looking for a template, not a theme. Contact us to discuss starter templates and pattern libraries that would be a fit for your project.
